ParentChild+
ParentChild+, formerly called the Parent Child Home Program, supports families with young children in historically marginalized communities by expanding access to early learning, trusted relationships, and community-based support. Through an international network of local program sites, Early Learning Specialists (ELSs) partner with families through the Family Home Visiting model and with child care providers through the Home-Based Child Care model to strengthen caregiver-child interaction, reduce caregiver stress, and promote children’s long-term success in school and life.
What is the model’s approach to providing home visiting services?
Children typically enroll at age two and exit by age four, receiving 92 visits over 46
weeks as they transition to pre-K, Head Start, or another early learning setting. During
visits, ELSs support caregiver-child interaction, developmental screening, family goal
setting, and connection to basic needs and child development resources.
ParentChild+ partners with families who may face systemic barriers, including:
- Low income relative to local cost of living and access to resources
- Limited access to early childhood programming or community supports
- Immigration or refugee related challenges
- Housing insecurity
- Language or literacy barriers
Who is implementing the model?
Home Visitors
ParentChild+ was implemented by 574 community-based ELSs in 2025. The model does not require a specific degree for ELSs. ELSs bring relevant work, education, and/or lived experience, with home language fluency and shared ethnoracial or cultural background whenever possible. The maximum caseload for experienced ELSs is 15 families.
Supervisors
ParentChild+ was implemented by 213 site Coordinators in 2025. The model
recommends that site Coordinators bring relevant work, education, and/or lived
experience, along with strong knowledge of the local community and families served.
Where is the model implemented?
ParentChild+ operated in 112 local agencies across 14 states in 2025. ParentChild+ also operated outside the United States and its territories in Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom in 2025.
